Description

An Ijaazah is a permission, license or authorization which certifies that the reciter has recited the complete Quran to the Issuer of that Ijaazah in the same manner as it was attested for the Ijaazah issuer and
his chain of transmission leading up to the Prophet ﷺ.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr that the Prophet ﷺ said: " Learn the Qur'an from (any of these) four persons: `Abdullah bin Mas`ud, Salim the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifa, Ubai bin Ka`b, and Mu`adh bin Jabal. " (Sahih al-Bukhari 3759, 3760)

This Hadeeth signifies the importance of learning Qur’an from people whose Recitation has been attested and whose chain of transmission leads to the Prophet ﷺ .

Issuing an Ijaazah is a big Amaanah (responsibility), hence the teacher is very meticulous in selecting a candidate for this program, critically listening to the candidate’s Recitation during the Program and issuing final Ijaazah after the Recitation has been completed. Therefore, the candidate must be well versed with the rules of Tajweed and Recitation in order to proceed with this Program. The teacher would initially assess the candidate and may suggest the preparation required prior to starting the program for Ijaazah. The student may start the Program immediately if the teacher deems the student fit to start without a preparatory course.
